Forster named to Jack Nicklaus Award watch list

NORMAN, Olka. – Tom Forster (Oundle, England) has been selected as one of 30 student-athletes named to the 2017 Division II Jack Nicklaus Award watch list, it was announced on Friday.

For the freshman, this represents another addition to his growing list of accolades. Forster has already earned the title of South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year and was also selected to the All-SAC first-team. His 72.3 stroke average was good enough fifth in the league and led all first year players. The Oundle, England native has finished in the top 10 in four consecutive events, including the SAC Championships, where he placed fifth and helped C-N take home the conference title. He also put together the fourth-best adjusted stroke average in the country among freshman in Division II, according to Golfstat.

Forster is one of 30 semifinalists for the award from Division II, four of which come from the SAC. The finalists will be announced on May 18th and the honor will be presented on June 1st. Jack Nicklaus will present the award during the final round of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide at Muirfield Village Golf Club.

The winner of the Jack Nicklaus Player of the Year Award receives a chance to compete in the Barbasol Shootout on June 3rd at the Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio, where Nicklaus learned golf as a child. The competitors will be battling for an exemption into the PGA Tour's Barbasol Championship, which will be held on July 20-23.
