C-N Men’s Golf Ranked 19th in Preseason Poll

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn – The Carson-Newman Men's Golf team has been ranked 19th in the nation in the Bushnell Golfweek Preseason Coaches Poll.

This is off a 2015-16 season in which they won two tournaments and finished 2nd in three others, including the South Atlantic Conference Championships. The team also competed in the NCAA Division II Championships South/Southeast Regional, where they placed 12th.

Coach Randy Wylie's team spent much of last season as a ranked squad, moving up as high as 15th in the national polls.

The Eagles are the only South Atlantic Conference team ranked in the poll. Lincoln Memorial, Catawba and Wingate did receive votes, however.

Saint Leo University sits atop the poll following a national championship last season, while Florida Southern is ranked 2nd and Lynn University 3rd. Barry University came in at No. 4 and last year's national runner-up Chico State has been ranked 5th.

The Carson-Newman Men's Golf team begins their season on September 19th, as St. Leo University hosts the St. Leo Men's Invitational.
