Eagles move up to #22 in new GCAA poll

INDIANAPOLIS – Two weeks after moving back into the top 25 at No. 25, the Carson-Newman men's golf team has slid up three spots to No. 22 in the new Golf Coaches Association of America poll, which was released on Friday.

The Eagles were able to move up in the rankings due in large part to their performance at the South Atlantic Conference Championships. They outperformed a field of 12 teams, including No. 12 Newberry and No. 17 Lincoln Memorial, to take home their first championship since 2014.

The Wolves and the Railsplitters are they only other SAC teams included in the rankings. Newberry dropped two spots from their placement in the previous poll, while LMU stayed fixed at No. 17.

West Florida remained in possession of the top spot, receiving 15 of the poll's 17 first place votes. Lynn University and Barry University switched spots, with the Fighting Knights moving to No. 2 and the Bucs dropping to No. 3. The fourth spot belongs to Florida Southern and Nova Southeastern occupies No. 5.

This comes just a few days prior to the start of the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships South/Southeast Regional, which will start on Monday. For news and updates regarding C-N men's golf, visit cneagles.com.
