The National Preview finishes up with Eagles placing 13th

ORLANDO, Fla. – The 21st ranked Carson-Newman men's golf team played their final 18 holes at The National Preview in Orlando, Florida and scored a +9 for the day, giving them a 54-hole total of +25, placing them 13th for the tournament.

"We played a really tough course against tough competition," Golf Coach Randy Wylie said. "We need to perform better, which is on me to prepare them better. We're still struggling to find that fourth score. We're the defending champions at Lincoln Memorial's tournament, which is coming up next week. We've got to put this week behind us and start preparing to defend that tournament title."

For the second consecutive event, freshman Tom Forster (Oundle, England) shot the Eagles' best score. His plus-one 73 on Wednesday gave him a final mark of one-over, which tied him for 24th.

Dalton Reese had the best Wednesday for C-N, as he played even par golf with a 72. Reese completed 54 holes only one stroke behind Forster with a 218, plus-two. Neither Forster nor Reese played a single round worse than two-over.

Jake Headrick tied for 50th in Orlando, but was only three strokes behind Reese, as he carded his second consecutive 73 on Tuesday. Headrick didn't post a score worse than three-over in his three rounds.

Freshman Fintan McKenna closed out the tourney at +17, placing him 88th and sophomore Will Hurt came in 94th with a +29.

Lynn University, the team that led the tournament after day one and entered the competition ranked 4th in Division II, emerged victorious with a team score of 19-under par. They beat 2nd ranked Florida Southern by four shots and were ten strokes better than No. 1 West Florida. Missouri St. Louis, ranked 10th, earned a fourth place finish, while No. 3 Barry University and No. 7 St. Leo tied for fifth.
