New GCAA national poll ranks Eagles 25th

INDIANAPOLIS – The Carson-Newman men's golf team has moved into a tie for the No. 25 spot in the Golf Coaches Association of America national poll, which was released on Friday. This is the first time this spring the Eagles have earned a spot in the national rankings.

C-N started the season rated as the 19th best squad in the country and were also placed 21st during the fall.

Coach Randy Wylie's team is one of three programs from the South Atlantic Conference in the top 25. Newberry stands as the SAC's top-ranked team, as they sit at No. 10. Seven spots behind the Wolves at No. 17 are the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters.

The top spot in the GCAA poll is occupied by the West Florida Argonauts, who received 13 first-place votes to maintain their standing at No. 1. At No. 2 is Barry University followed by Lynn University. The Florida Southern Mocs sit in fourth and the final school in the top five is Nova Southeastern.

The Eagles will take their new status as a ranked team into the SAC Championships, which begin on Sunday at the Country Club of Salisbury in Salisbury, N.C. For news and updates, visit cneagles.com.
