Former C-N Golfer Jace Devault Set to Make Web.com Tour Debut

KNOXVILLE, Tenn – On Monday, former Carson-Newman golfer Jace Devault shot a 7-under 64 in the News Sentinel Open qualifier at the Willow Creek Golf Club. That score, which was the low round in the qualifier, earned DeVault a spot at the Web.com Tour's News Sentinel Open presented by Pilot this week in Knoxville.

This will be Devault's professional debut. He gained this opportunity by putting together a stretch of seven birdies in his final 12 holes on Monday.

The Web.com Tour is a developmental tour for the PGA Tour. Those who perform well enough on this circuit are promoted to the PGA level. The News Sentinel Open is a four day event stretching from Thursday through Sunday.

"We're all thrilled for Jace," said Carson-Newman men's golf coach Randy Wylie. "This is the equivalent to a baseball player making his pro debut at the AAA level. It's a great opportunity for him and a tremendous accomplishment. He was a great player here for Carson-Newman and he's going to continue to do great things. Everyone here is really happy for him."

Devault came to Carson-Newman from East Tennessee State University and last year, as a senior, played in every round of golf his team competed in. His season included a pair of seventh place finishes and a four-under round of 68 during the University of North Georgia Fall Invitational.

Devault is native of Bluff City, Tennessee who completed his MBA at Carson-Newman.
