Eagles split day one in Laurinburg

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Eagles dropped their season opening match to the Liberty Flames 3-2 on Friday afternoon before completing a perfect 5-0 sweep over Spartanburg Methodist in their second match of the day. 

Match 1: Liberty 3, C-N 2

In game one of the day and season, Carson-Newman dropped matches in the two, four, and five seeds. The Truth Hafey/Sierra Still combo in the first flight and Paige Halcrow/Ava Fountain in the third claimed the only two Eagle victories against Liberty. 

In their singular meeting last season, Carson-Newman defeated the Flames, taking wins in seeds two, four, and five.

In the second matchup of the day, C-N defeated Spartanburg Methodist in prime Eagle fashion, a perfect 5-0. In the 2023 beach season, the Eagles notched 16 sweeps over various opponents, and now have one under their belt for this season, on day one.  

Carson-Newman remains undefeated against the Pioneers.
