Hawkins, Pemberton and Hart named WGCA All-American Scholars

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Carson-Newman women's golfer's Meridith Hawkins, Kelli Pemberton and Jessica Hart have been lauded with WGCA All-American Scholar status, the Women's Golf Coaches Association announced Tuesday afternoon.

A total of 828 women's collegiate golfers recognized with this prestigious honor, including 13 from the South Atlantic Conference. 

The Eagles were tied for the second most selections in the league following Tusculum's four. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.

Hawkins earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors and was a member of the All-SAC second team as a senior.

Hawkins won the Carson-Newman/Newberry Dual Match with a one-over 73 and finished with five top-10 finishes with a sixth-place showing at the Agnes McAmis Memorial to lead the way

She had a 79.3 stroke average for the year.

Hart had a season-best 19th-place finish at the Smokey Mountain Intercollegiate in September to open the year. She shot a season-low seven-over 79 during the first round of the SMI while averaging 83.9 strokes per round. 

Pemberton tied for third at the SAC Preview for her best finish of the season and tied for eighth at the Smokey Mountain Intercollegiate with a 12-over 156. She recorded a season-low five-over 77 three times, at the SMI, SAC Preview and Lady Moc Classic.
