Carson-Newman Women’s Golf Announces Fall Schedule

JEFFERSON CITY, TENN – The season's first four tournaments for the 2016-17 Carson-Newman women's golf team have been revealed. The autumn slate will see the team travel to Florida and South Carolina and also includes a competition in Tennessee.

The schedule begins with the team's third consecutive trip to the Rollins Invitational in Pinehurst, SC. Last year, in competition with some of the top teams in the nation, the Eagles finished 11th.

"We start off with a bang," Head Coach Suzanne Strudwick said. "This is one of the biggest events on the schedule. We're going to have to come out ready to go. Before, when we've played it, the girls have been a little hesitant because of the standard of play and the golf course. It's a championship course. I don't see that happening again.

The season's second tournament will be the King Intercollegiate, hosted by King University at the Bristol Country Club.

"Not only is King a rival of ours," Coach Strudwick said, "it's our first year playing there and I felt as though we needed to support that. King has supported us very well in the past.  We do a lot of traveling, but we'll definitely feel an advantage in this event."

That's followed by a trip to the Polo Club in Boca Raton, FL for the Florida Atlantic University Intercollegiate. Following a couple weeks of rest, the Eagles will conclude the fall portion of their schedule with the Flagler Fall Classic in Jacksonville, FL at Marsh Creek Country Club on October 24th and 25th.

"Flagler always hosts a very well represented event," Strudwick said. "They are the best in the country in Division II. It's another big tournament."

The Eagles are just one year removed from winning the SAC Championship and finished last year second in the conference.
