England selected to play in NCAA Super Regional

INDIANAPOLIS – After taking home first place at the South Atlantic Conference Championships, Elizabeth England (Oakland, Tenn.) has been selected to play as an individual at the 2017 NCAA Division II South Super Regional Championship, which will begin on May 8th at the Members Club in Woodcreek in Elgin, S.C.

This is the first time since 2012, when Erica Ray garnered a selection, a Carson-Newman player has been chosen to participate in an NCAA Super Regional event.

The 2016-17 campaign saw England earn a spot on the All-SAC first-team and narrowly miss out on conference player of the year honors after posting a stroke average of 76.2, good enough for second in the league. She collected three victories during the season, including a one stroke win at the conference championships over SAC Player of the Year Abbey Hartsell.

This will be the second trip to the Members Club for England during the current campaign. In the fall, the Eagles competed in the Newberry College Regional Preview at the club and the junior tied for 50th.

England is one of three players from the SAC who will be playing in the competition as individuals. She will be joined by Hartsell from Lenoir-Rhyne and Ciara Rattana of Tusculum.

The tournament in Elgin will be one of four super regionals, each of which includes 12 teams and 6 individuals. The top three teams and top three individuals from each super regional will advance to the championships in Findlay, Ohio.
