Resende and Forrest Stay Alive in Day Two of the ITA Regionals

SUMTER, S.C. - Ana Carla Resende and Natasha Forrest move on in the ITA regionals after a dominant showing.

Resende seeded third, is the only Eagle to make it to the round of 16 in singles action. The Brazil native played Evgeniya Pugina at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday. She won in sets of 6-2 and 6-1. Resende will move on to play Suzuka Sambyakugari of Wingate at noon on Sunday.

Natasha Forrest was matched up against Luciana Galves for her round of 32 competition. Forrest lost her sets with scores of 6-1 and 6-1.

In doubles action, Resende and Forrest took down Ylva Landa Frafjord and Leonie Floeth in the Eagles' only doubles match of the day.

The pair moves on to the quarterfinals to face off against the number one seed in Narja Meier and Dana Heiman from Flager College.

Last year, Resende managed to earn second-place honors in the tournament. No Eagles duo made it past the round of 32 in last year's event.
