Eagles Drop Matchup Against Flames

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Carson-Newman women's tennis (0-5) drop their matchup against Lee University (6-0). The Eagles forfeited two sets for the second matchup in a row.

Doubles

 Natasha Forrest and Summer Reeves saw Ashleigh Simes and Matina Ujdur in the one spot. The Eagles lost the set 6-1.

Mollie Edge and Julia Speiser lined up against Micaela Maiz and Maria Duarte in the two spot. The Eagles lost 6-3.

Carson-Newman forfeited the final doubles match.

Singles

Anita Chornei lined up against #24 ranked Simes in the one spot. Chornei won the first game 7-5 but dropped the second 6-2. Chornei reseized momentum in the final game to win the set 6-3. Chornei advanced to 4-1 on the year.

Forrest lined up against Maiz in the two-spot. Forrest won the first game 7-5. She then pulled away in the second game to win 6-3. Forrest holds a 2-1 record when playing in the two spot and a 3-2 record on the year.

Speiser lined up in the three spot for the second time this season when she faced Mirjana Ragastovac. Ragastovac won in back-to-back games of 6-4 to take the set.

Reeves faced off against Ujdur in the four spot. Ujdur won the first game 6-2, but Reeves bounced back to win the second 6-4. Ujdur took the tiebreaker 6-4 to win the set.

Mollie Edge lined up in the fifth spot for the third time this season when she saw Lizza Gnilozubova. The Flame won in games 6-4 and 7-5 to take the set.

Carson-Newman forfeited the final singles match.

Carson-Newman returns to action on Mar. 4th to begin conference play against Catawba (1-0).
