Eagles Head to Gaffney, S.C. for Conference Matchup with Saints

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman women's tennis (0-7) travels to Gaffney, S.C. to compete against Limestone University (2-5) on Saturday, Mar. 11th.

The matchup occurs three days after the ITA's most recent national rankings that placed Carson-Newman's Anita Chornei at #24 in singles play. Natasha Forrest and Summer Reeves are ranked #29 in doubles action. Limestone does not have any ranked players in the most recent poll.

The Eagles have fallen to 0-7 on the season, but three of those matchups were decided by a single point. Carson-Newman has often had to forfeit two points per match.

Chornei and Forrest lead the Eagles in singles points earned with four each. Mollie Edge and Reeves each have three, and Speiser has two. The Eagles are 5-2 overall in the two spot, which has been split between Forrest and Chornei.

Limestone began the year with a 6-1 loss to Gardner-Webb, followed by a 4-3 loss to Erskine. They picked up their first win against Converse before losing 5-2 at Catawba. They lost to Queens (N.C.) and #25 Newberry. They won their most recent matchup in a contest against Penn West Edinboro.

The Eagles are 4-1 all-time against the Saints, with their only loss coming in their first meeting in 2006 when the Saints won 8-1. Carson-Newman won their matchup last season on Mar. 5th. The Eagles won two of the three Doubles matches and five of the six singles matchups.

Carson-Newman will look to hand the Saints their third straight conference loss on Saturday with doubles action beginning at 2:00 P.M.
