Eagles End February with Matchup Against Flames

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman's women's tennis (0-4) will look to end their losing streak when they head to Cleveland, Tenn., to take on the Lee Flames (5-0) on Tuesday, Feb. 28th.

The Eagles began the season with a 6-1 loss against #10 North Georgia. They followed that performance with a tight 4-3 loss against Lander. Six days later, they traveled to Young Harris, where they lost 5-2. Their most recent action was against Union College (Ky.) when they lost 4-3, notably because they forfeited two matches.

Anita Chornei leads the Eagles in singles wins with 3. She began the season with a perfect 3-0 record before dropping her first match against Union College last Tuesday. Mollie Edge and Natasha Forrest each hold a record of 2-2 so far on the year. Summer Reeves and Julia Speiser round out the winning column with a win each.

The pairing of Forrest/Reeves holds the best doubles record with a 2-2 clip. Edge/Speiser are the only other Eagles with a doubles victory so far this season.

Carson-Newman holds a record of 5-2 against the Flames. The Eagles won their matchup against the Flames last year with a 4-3 victory. Wins from Hannah Price, Chornei, and Reeves, along with a point from doubles action, vaulted the Eagles past the Flames.
