Chornei Remains Ranked on ITA's List

TEMPE, Ariz. - No. 68 Anita Chornei is featured on the ITA's Singles National Rankings for the fourth consecutive week.

Chornei has five singles victories this season in 12 appearances, including a win over Lee University's Ashleigh Simes, the ITA's 39th-ranked player.

Chornei also has a pair of wins over regionally ranked opponents. The Ukraine native took down North Georgia's Anna Markartova in the season opener in sets of 6-3 and 7-6. Markartova was ranked 20th in the region at the time. Chornei's other victory over a regionally ranked opponent was against Simes on Feb. 28th. Chornei won in sets of 7-5, 2-6, and 6-3 to take down the 8th-ranked player in the region.

The Eagles are scheduled to take on no. 26 Wingate University on Apr. 1st. Chornei could see an opportunity to take on the ITA's 75th nationally ranked player in Wingate's Elena Gunfaus, but that is if Felipe Charry decides to line Chornei against Gunfaus.
