ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman sophomore Cam Ferguson (Rockmart, Ga.) has picked up WePlayed Sports SAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Ferguson is the second Eagle to bring home the league's weekly special teams honor, following Fortune Woods after the Eagles' week zero win over Reinhardt.
The sophomore kick returner housed his first career kickoff return for a touchdown against West Virginia State.
Ferguson brought back his second kick of the game, the first of the second quarter, back 90 yards for a house call, giving C-N its 39th all-time kickoff return for a touchdown.
All told, Ferguson returned two kicks for 102 yards and the score.
Offensively, he ran the ball 12 times for 88 yards and another touchdown.
