Orange and Blue drafted, C-N set for annual spring game Saturday morning

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Orange Crush will meet Blue Waves when Carson-Newman football puts on its annual spring game Saturday morning at 10 a.m. The game is presented by Carriage Hill Insurance.

The soiree nearly ties a bow on C-N's spring practice period with two spring sessions remaining after the scrimmage.

The festivities kickoff at 9 a.m. inside Burke-Tarr Stadium with an alumni tailgate. C-N Hall of Famer and resident pitmaster Jaybez Floyd is preparing a BBQ feast for purchase postgame for 10 dollars a plate.

The game itself will actually feature more colors than just orange and blue. C-N will have a white-jerseyed crew that plays for both teams. This unit is made up of offensive lineman and specialists. Quarterbacks will wear green and will not be brought to the ground.

Other noteworthy rule changes include 10-minute quarters with the potential for a running clock. Teams will kick PATs and field goals, but all other special teams plays won't feature an actual result. As an example, punts will automatically net 40 yards, regardless of what happens on a kick.
