ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman junior fullback Jayden Sullins (Cullman, Ala.) has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
This is Sullins' first honor from the league office, but his second of the season. He was named the Tennessee Sportswriters' Association State Player of the Week two weeks ago following a win over Barton.
Sullins is the fourth player this season to earn a weekly honor from the league office. Carson-Newman's previous three were all special teams nods for Fortune Woods, Cam Ferguson and Bennett Smith. Sullins is the first Eagle to earn SAC offensive player of the week honors since Troy Dendy was recognized following a win over Limestone on Nov. 8, 2021.
The junior ran wild in the Eagles' 35-23 win over UVA Wise. Sullins turned in the 13th-most rushing yards in school history with a 25-carry, 235-yard performance against the Cavaliers. He found the end zone once.

Sullins carved the Cavs up to the tune of 9.4 yards a rush. He only had one negative rushing play on the day. On the flip side, he had seven rushes longer than 10 yards and five longer than 15. He topped out with a 48-yard run that set up a C-N touchdown.
Coupled with his 261-yard day against Barton two weeks prior, Sullins has rushed for 496 yards in his last two games at Burke-Tarr Stadium. He is the ninth player in school history to rush for 200 yards in a game on two occasions. Sullins joins Kenneth Tyson, Larry Smith and Buck Wakefield as the only players to do it in the same season.
Tyson did it three times in 1984 and then four times in 1987. Smith pulled it off three times in 1983, while Wakefield set the school rushing record with the greatest two-game stretch in school history going for 303 and 332 in successive weeks against Wingate and Tusculum in 2009.
Sullins and the rest of the Eagles will be in action Saturday at Emory & Henry. Kickoff with the Wasps is slated for 1 p.m. Coverage on the Eagle Sports Network begins at noon with the AEC Tailgate Show on Joy 620 (WRJZ-AM, Knoxville), MIX 105.5 (WSEV-FM, Sevierville) and online at cneagles.com/live.
