HAMPTON, Ga. — The Carson-Newman men's golf team shot a final-round 293 on Tuesday to finish in sixth place in the Laker Collegiate Invitational at Crystal Lake Golf and Country Club in Hampton, Ga.
The Eagles finished with a three-round total of 888 (+24). North Alabama won the tournament with a three-round score of 857 (-7), while Armstrong Atlantic finished second with an 866 (+2) and Columbus State was third with a score of 867 (+3).
C-N had a pair of golfers finish in the top 10 individually, as junior Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) fired a 2-under 70 to tie for fourth place with a three-round total of 212 (-4) and Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland) carded a 74 on Tuesday to finish the tournament in a tie for seventh with a score of 213 (-3).
Freshman Jonathan Kim-Moss finished 35th with a 226 (80-73-73), while Alex Coughlin and John Minor, Jr. (Dandridge, Tenn.) tied for 51st after rounds of 76 and 78, respectively.
North Alabama's Jake Greer won medalist honors after shooting a 4-under 68 to finish the tournament at 10-under, which was five strokes ahead of his nearest competitor.
The Eagles return to action on Oct. 4 in the Cougar Invitational at the Country Club of Columbus in Columbus, Ga.
