Eagles 12th after 36 holes at Golfweek Spring Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Carson-Newman men's golf team is in 12th  place after Monday's second round of the Golfweek Spring Invitational at the Reunion Resort Legacy Course.

The Eagles closed the second round with a team 305 (+17) and are 20 strokes off the pace set by tournament-leader Barton College (598, +22).

C-N is tied with Coker College at 598 through two rounds and i just two strokes out of the top ten.

C-N junior Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) is eighth after firing a two-over 74. He had three birdies and five bogeys in his round.  

Sophomore Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland) moved up 11 spots into a tie for 15th with a one-under 35 on the back nine. After a triple bogey on the par-four eighth, he played his final 10 holes at one under to turn in one of the day's better rounds with a 73 (+1).

Michael Horenkamp (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) turned in a 78 (+6) and is in a tie for 51st, while John Minor, Jr. (Dandridge, Tenn.) shot an 82 (+10) and Jordan Patrick (Abingdon, Va.) shot an 80 (+8).

Coker College's Jake Murphy is in the lead with a 137 (-7).  

The final round of the 54-hole tournament will be played on Tuesday.
