Eagles Wrap Up Will Wilson Southeast Regional Preview in Fourth Place

CLEMMONS, N.C. — The Carson-Newman men's golf team shot a final-round 292 (+12) on Tuesday to finish in fourth place in the Will Wilson NCAA Southeast Regional Preview at the Tanglewood Park Golf Club Champions Course in Clemmons, N.C.

The Eagles wrapped up the tournament with a three-day score of 882 (293-297-292, +42). Newberry fired a 284 (+4) to win the event with a score of 861 (295-282-284, +21), while Queens finished second with an 863 (295-286-282, +23) and UNC Pembroke claimed third with an 881 (290-294-297, +41).

C-N junior Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) just missed winning medalist honors as he carded an even-par 70 to finish in a tie for second with a three-round total of 212 (+2), which was one stroke off the lead. UNC Pembroke's Jonathan McCurry also shot a 212 (+2) to tie Ashby. Newberry's Daniel Stanley fired a 4-under 66 to win medalist honors with a score of 211 (+1).

Eagles freshman Jonathan Kim-Moss (Mississauga, Canada) turned in a 76 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 22nd with a score of 222 (+12). Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland) tied for 37th with a score of 226 (+16) after shooting a final-round 74. Michael Horenkamp (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) shot a 2-over 72 to finish in a tie for 47th at 228 (+18), while Jordan Patrick (Abingdon, Va.) tied for 56th with a score of 231 (+21).

The Eagles will close out their fall schedule in the Queens University Invitational at Pete Dye's Valley Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. The tournament begins with 36-holes on Nov. 1 with the final round on Nov. 2.
