Eagles in 14th place after first day of Bobcat Invitational

EATONTON, Ga. — The Carson-Newman men's golf team is in 14th place after two rounds of play in the 2011 Bobcat Invitational at the Golf Club at Cuscowilla.

The Eagles turned in rounds of 294 and 305 on Monday to finish the day with a score of 599 (+39). North Alabama leads the field by one, carding rounds of 282 and 285 for a seven-over 567. No. 8 Barry University and No. 5 Lynn University are second at eight-over par, with Barry posting rounds of 286 and 282, and Lynn 287 and 281.

No. 15 Armstrong Atlantic stands fifth at 11-over par, with host Georgia College, No. 4 University of West Florida and No. 19 Nova Southeastern University rounding out the top five in a tie at 12-over par.

C-N sophomore Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland) and freshman Jonathan Kim-Moss (Mississauga, Canada) are in a tie for 52nd with a score of 149 (+9). Hay carded rounds of 74 and 75, while Kim-Moss turned in scores of 72 and 77.

John Minor, Jr. (Dandridge, Tenn.) and Alex Coughlin (Jefferson City, Tenn.) are tied for 58th with a score of 151 (74-77, +11). Junior Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) is tied for 64th with a two-round total of 152 (76-76, +12).

West Florida's Otto Bonning carded the lowest round of the day, putting up a second-round 66 en route to the individual lead. Bonning is one of four golfers under par thanks to a first-round score of even-par 70 to finish the day with a 136 (-4).

The final round will be held on Tuesday.
