Eagles finish 15th at Bobcat Invitational

EATONTON, GA. – The Carson-Newman Eagles closed with a final-round 305 (+25) to finish 15th at the 2011 Bobcat Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday at The Golf Club at Cuscowilla.

C-N finished with a three-round total of 904 (+64), seven strokes ahead of Valdosta State University. The Eagles competed against one of the strongest fields of the D-II season, which included a number of top 10 teams.

Lynn University won the tournament by a stroke over Barry University.

Senior John Minor, Jr. (Dandridge, Tenn.), along with juniors Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) and Alex Coughlin (Jefferson City, Tenn.) all tied for 57th with a score of 226 (+16). Ashby shot the low round of day for C-N with a 74, while Coughlin and Minor each shot 75 (+5).

C-N sophomore Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland) and freshman Jonathan Kim-Moss (Mississauga, Canada) tied for 68th at 230 (+20) for the tournament. Both shot 81 on Tuesday.

Carson-Newman returns to action next Monday and Tuesday (March 28-29) at the Lander Bearcat Golf Classic played at the Greenwood Country Club in Greenwood, S.C.
