Eagles Drop into Tie for Fifth after Second Round of Will Wilson Southeast Regional Preview

CLEMMONS, N.C. — The Carson-Newman men's golf team shot a 297 (+17) on Monday and dropped into a tie for fifth place after the second round of the Will Wilson NCAA Southeast Regional Preview at the Tanglewood Park Golf Club Champions Course in Clemmons, N.C.

The Eagles have a two-round total of 590 (+30) and are tied with Barton College heading into Tuesday's final round. C-N is 13 strokes back of tournament leader Newberry. The Wolves lead the way with a score of 577 (295-282, +17). Queens is in second place with a two-day total of 581 (295-286, +21), while UNC Pembroke and Belmont Abbey are in a tie for third with a score of 584 (+24).

C-N junior Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) remains tied for the lead after carding a 3-over 73 on Monday. Ashby has a two-round score of 142 (+2) and is tied with Belmont Abbey's Peter Tarver Jones and UNC Pembroke's Jonathan McCurry.

Eagles freshman Jonathan Kim-Moss (Mississauga, Canada) is tied for 12th with a score of 146 (73-73, +6). Jordan Patrick (Abingdon, Va.) and Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland) are tied for 43rd with scores of 152 (+12). Patrick shot a 6-over 76 on Monday, while Hay turned in a 7-over 77. Michael Horenkamp (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) rounds out the field for C-N with a score of 156 (81-75, +16).
