KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – A day after Carson-Newman head men's golf coach John Minor saw C-N as being on the cusp, the Eagles showed consistency with the second best round of all teams of day two at the Kiawah Island Invitational.
Carson-Newman shot a 297, second only to Limestone's 296 to jump to ninth on the leaderboards for the tournament. In doing so, the Eagles supplanted Coker and Newberry as the top finishing SAC school in the tournament.
C-N finished behind four schools in the GCAA top 25, while topping a 17th-ranked Belmont Abbey club.
Jonathan Kim-Moss recorded a top 10 finish by shooting a 74 (+2) to finish at even par for the tournament. Dalton Reese and Corey Bray both shot four strokes better from day one to day two to help round out a scoring group for the Eagles that featured four rounds of plus-three (75) golf or better.
Rafael Jackson followed a 76 on day one with a 75 (+3), while Reese shot a team best 73 (+1) for day two. Bray was identical to Jackson with a 75.
The Eagles have a weekend off before heading to the Columbus State Invitational at the end of September and beginning of October.
