Eagles Prepare for Rendleman Invitational

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Eagles men's golf team will participate in the 23rd annual Richard Rendleman Invitational at the Salisbury Country Club in Salisbury, N.C. on Monday and Tuesday.

The event is hosted by Catawba College, and played at a course that is 6500 yards and was designed by the legendary Donald Ross.

This tournament marks the beginning of a busy month for Carson-Newman golf, as the Eagles will play in the Bobcat Invitational from March 17-18, and the Bearcat Golf Classic from March 24-25.

Carson-Newman is coming off of a ninth place out of 16 teams for the tournament at the2014 Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate Tournament at Fleming Island Golf Club in Fleming Island, Fla. in mid-February.

Carson-Newman improved two spots from in the team standings from Monday to Tuesday of that tournament, despite the Eagles shooting their highest round of the tournament with a combined score of 300 on Tuesday.

Carson-Newman was led at Fleming Island by freshman Dalton Reese (Warrenton, Ga.) who finished tied for 15th place in the tournament, as he finished 5-over-par.

After consecutive rounds of 4-over-par 75 to be 8-over-par for the tournament in the first day at the Spring Kickoff action, senior Jonathan Kim-Moss (Mississauga, Canada) shot a 1-under-par 70 on Tuesday to finish tied for 20th place at 7-over-par for the tournament.

Senior Rafael Jackson (Rutledge, Tenn.) finished tied for 26th place at 10-over-par for the tournament, and he shot a 4-over-par 75 on Tuesday.

Sophomore Nicklaus Kennedy (London, Ontario, Canada) finished tied for 59th place at 20-over-par for the tournament and sophomore Nathan Hodge (Jefferson City, Tenn.) is in finished in 77th place place by shooting 33-over-par during the three rounds in Florida.
