Eagles Finish Seventh at Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate

FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. – The Carson-Newman Eagles men's golf team shot a combined score of 42-over-par 894 (297-297-300) to finish ninth out of 16 teams for the tournament at the2014 Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate Tournament at Fleming Island Golf Club after the final round on Tuesday.

Carson-Newman improved two spots from in the team standings from yesterday, despite the Eagles shooting their highest round of the tournament with a combined score of 300 on Tuesday.

Carson-Newman was led by freshman Dalton Reese (Warrenton, Ga.) who finished tied for 15th place in the tournament, as he finished 5-over-par.

After consecutive rounds of 4-over-par 75 to be 8-over-par for the tournament in yesterday's action senior Jonathan Kim-Moss (Mississauga, Canada) shot a 1-under-par 70 on Tuesday to finish tied for 20th place at 7-over-par for the tournament. 

Senior Rafael Jackson (Rutledge, Tenn.) finished tied for 26th place at 10-over-par for the tournament, and he shot a 4-over-par 75 on Tuesday.

Sophomore Nicklaus Kennedy (London, Ontario, Canada) finished tied for 59th place at 20-over-par for the tournament and sophomore Nathan Hodge (Jefferson City, Tenn.) is in finished in 77th place place by shooting 33-over-par during the three rounds in Florida.

Lincoln Memorial won the tournament at 8-over-par, only one stroke better than second place Flagler who was 9-over-par. Tusculum came in third at 26-over-par, with Coker in fourth at 27-over-par, UNC Pembroke at 29-over-par, and Wingate and Catawba just ahead of C-N tying for sixth place at 38-over-par.

Flagler's Spencer Schindler won the tournament by finishing 11-under-par. His teammate Sebastian Barnova finished in second place seven strokes behind him at 4-under-par.

Carson-Newman will next play from March 3-4 at the 23rd Annual Richard Rendleman Invitational at Salisbury Country Club in Salisbury, N.C., with the event hosted by Catawba College. Full results will be available on www.cneagles.com.
