Challenging field awaits Eagles at Bobcat Intercollegiate

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman's men's golf team will face a daunting gauntlet of foes when it travels to the 2014 Bobcat Intercollegiate, hosted by Georgia College at Cuscowilla Golf Club in Eatonton, Ga.

The tournament features five top-10 teams and five more who are in the top 25. 

The top team participating in the Bobcat Intercollegiate, and the top team in the GolfStat Head-to-Head rankings, is No. 1 Barry University. The tournament features four more top-10 teams: No. 6 Lynn University, No. 7 Armstrong Atlantic State University, No. 8 USC Aiken and No. 10 University of West Florida.

The tournament also features No. 12 Nova Southeastern University, No. 13 Columbus State University, No. 16 University of North Alabama, No. 21 Florida Southern College and the No. 23 host Bobcats.

Rounding out the rest of the field are Clayton State University, Georgia Southwestern State University, Lander University, Rollins College, Valdosta State University and UNC Pembroke.

Carson-Newman finished ninth at the event a year ago, led by a top five finish from Gavin Hay.  Jonathan Kim-Moss (Mississauga, Canada) finished in the top 20 after rounds of 70, 71 and 75. 

The Eagles are coming off a 12th place finish at the Richard Rendleman Invitational in Salisbury, N.C.  Kim-Moss and Dalton Reese both touted top 20 finishes for the Eagles. Kim-Moss leads the Eagles with five, top-20 finishes this season and a 72.7 stroke average. 

The Eagles will play 36 holes Monday before wrapping up with 18 holes Tuesday.
