Eagles Finish Fall at McDonough Cup

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Eagles men's golf team will finish the fall portion of their schedule by playing in the McDonough Cup at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Winter Park, Fla., hosted by Rollins University on Monday and Tuesday.

Carson-Newman is coming off a fifth place finish at the TVA Credit Union Classic, with senior Jonathan Kim-Moss (Mississauga, Canada) leading the way for the Eagles with his individual fifth place finish at 3-over-par for the tournament.

"Jonathan obviously played well," said Carson-Newman head coach John Minor when describing Kim-Moss' final day last week. "Finishing fifth was another good event for him."

In addition to finishing fifth at the TVA Credit Union Classic last week in Florence, Ala., the Eagles also had top 10 finishes in their previous two tournaments, the Kiawah Island Invitational (ninth, Sept. 16-17), and the Columbus State Invitational (seventh, Sept. 30-Oct. 1).

Kim-Moss has been at the spark of the Eagles' top 10 finishes, as he also was in the lowest 10 scores at the Kiawah Island Invitational and the Columbus State Invitational, with his fifth place finish in Florence his first top five finish of the year.

C-N also saw strong play from freshman Dalton Reese (Warrenton, Ga.), shooting a just 1-over-par 73 on the final day at the TVA Credit Union Classic, and Carson-Newman has seen consistent play as well from senior Rafael Jackson (Rutledge, Tenn.), who shot under par during the first round last week in Florence.

The host school Rollins is ranked no. 19 in the country, and the field includes 16 schools, 14 of which were mentioned in the latest Golf World/Nike Division II College Coaches' Poll.

Included in the field is defending national champion Barry University, who is the no. 1 team in the country according to the latest Golf World/Nike Division II College Coaches' Poll.
