Men’s golf set for SAC tourney

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.  – Carson-Newman's men's golf team will try to win its first SAC tournament title in a decade when it takes to the River Course Sunday at the Sevierville Golf Club for the 2014 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men's Golf Championship. 

The Eagles are led by three-time first team All-South Atlantic Conference selection Jonathan Kim-Moss.  Kim-Moss leads C-N with a 73.2 stroke average. 

When Kim-Moss took to the River Course at the Smokey Mountain Intercollegiate in September, he fired a 74 and a 76 to finish in a tie for 29thRafael Jackson led the Eagles in that event with a 72 in round two to finish in a tie for 23rd

The Eagles enter the event as the four-seed behind LMU, Queens and Coker. 

Last year, the Eagles finished fourth at the SAC championship behind LMU, Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne.  Kim-Moss was the Eagles' top finisher last year in the championship with a top-10 conclusion.  He turned in a 71 in the opening round. 

The Eagles had three who finished in the top 20 last year.  Rafael Jackson closed in a tie for 14th thanks in part to a 73 in the second round. 

The Eagles first tee time Sunday morning at 10 a.m. when Dalton Reese goes off of the first hole on the River Course.
