COLUMBUS, Ga. – Carson-Newman's Jonathan Kim-Moss (Mississauga, Canada) and Nicklaus Kennedy (London, Ontario) are both at even par (142) after two rounds to open the Aflac Cougar Invitational. 

The Eagles sit in seventh place with a 585.  C-N is three strokes away from an eighth-ranked Florida Southern club for fifth place. 

"Our experienced players played well today," Carson-Newman head men's golf coach John Minor said. "Nick played a very good ball the second round.  Any time you're even par through 36, that's something to be proud of."

Kim-Moss and Kennedy shot inverse rounds.  Kim-Moss began with a 69 (-2) before finishing with a 73 (+2).  Kennedy shot a 73 to begin before finishing with a 69. The duo is six shots off the lead, held by Florida Southern's Tim Crouch.

Corey Bray (Caryville, Tenn.), opened the day with an even-par 71 before slipping in round two with a 79 (+8) to finish day one in a tie for 43^rd.

"We gave some things away and our youth showed its age today in the second round," Minor said. "We're a little disappointed with how we finished each round. But it's a lot to build on against a strong field. Because of that we're encouraged for tomorrow."

Rafael Jackson (Rutledge, Tenn.) rounded out the day's scoring with a 77 (+6), followed by a 74 (+3).  He sits in a tie for 52^nd. 

"This requires precision golf and that's difficult playing 10 hours of that," Minor said. "We're in good position to move up against a loaded field.  So while we may be disappointed with how the rounds finished, we're certainly not discouraged."

The Eagles conclude tournament play Tuesday with a single round.
