Pruett rounds out women’s golf signing class

Suzanne Strudwick interview

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman head women's golf coach Suzanne Strudwick has announced the signing of transfer Rebekah Pruett from McNeese State.

Pruett brings C-N's incoming class up to four players.  She joins Mikaela Thibodeau, Elizabeth England and Ashley Kay

"Pruett brings a wealth of experience," Strudwick said. "She's got two years under her belt at the DI level.  We'll have three freshmen coming in without a senior on the team.  She'll be a pseudo senior because of the experience she's got."

At McNeese State, Pruett played in three tournaments and finished in the top-20 once during her sophomore year.  She shot a low round of 75 at the Louisiana-Monroe Fred Marx Invitational.  Carried an 80.9 stroke average over two seasons with the Cowboys and had one top-10 finish.

Pruett also competed in two US Open Women's Qualifiers and one US Women's Amateur Qualifier.

"The fact that she's been there at the high level and knows what to expect is what excites me about her," Strudwick said. "She's not going to bring her level down; she'll allow us to provide more pressure and more expectations from us as a program."

She played high school golf at Niceville High School.  She was the team captain as a junior and senior. Pruett made four state championship appearances, bringing home al title in 2011.

Pruett made Northwest Florida Daily News' All-Area first team in both 2010 and 2011.  She was awarded the Megan Campbell Award in 2009 and 2011.  Three of her four years at Niceville, the Eagles won a regional championship and all four years the program went to the state championship.

She is the daughter of Mark and Teresa Pruett.  She is majoring in exercise science.
