POOLER, Ga. – The Carson-Newman women's golf team improved its total score by four strokes during the second round of the Armstrong Pirate Women's Invitational Tuesday at the Savannah Quarters Golf Club in Pooler, Ga.

Senior Danielle Baiunco (Melbourne, Fla.) shot a team-low 78 during the final round of the tournament. She took six strokes off her first round score of 84 to finish tied for 58^th-place.

"Still very rusty, but very pleased with Danielle's turnaround. Also, Elizabeth did better except for three holes," coach Suzanne Strudwick said. "Looking for the team to get some productive play and practice over Spring Break to come back and finish the season Eagle Strong."

Junior Meridith Hawkins followed up her first round 76 with an 86 on day two. She finished with a two-round total of 164 and in a tie for 62^nd.

Freshman Elizabeth England (Oakland, Tenn.) and sophomore Jessica Hart (Roanoke, Va.) both finished in a tie for 68^th. England and Hart swapped scorecards from day one as England followed up Monday's 85 by dropping three shots and shooting an 82. Hart shot an 85 during the second round after shooting an 82 in round one.

Junior Kelli Pemberton (Knoxville, Tenn.) saw the best improvement of any Eagle from day one to day two. Pemberton dropped nine shots from the score sheet to shoot an 80 and finish tied for 73^rd. 

Nova Southeastern, the second-ranked team in Division II, captured the team title by four strokes over Florida Tech. Southeastern's Daniela Ortiz won the individual title by two strokes over Flagler's Marie Santacroce and Florida Tech's Felicia Leftinger.

The Eagles return to action in three weeks at the Wingate Intercollegiate Challenge at Olde Sycamore Plantation in Charlotte, N.C.
