Eagles improve scores to finish 15th at Guy Harvey Invitational

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – All six Carson-Newman women golfers shaved at least three shots off the first-round scores as the Eagles finished 15th at the Guy Harvey Invitational in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Three Eagles shot in the 70s in Tuesday's final round to improve the team's score by 29 shots.

"Great bounce back from the team today. Rain delay to start but that didn't deter us from a determined bounce back," coach Suzanne Strudwick said. "Danielle's 74 was fantastic, having three scores in the 70s today really helps with confidence going into the last event of the season. Our team goal was to play "free" today, play like we can and they did. Very pleased."

Junior Meridith Hawkins (Powell, Tenn.) and Sunshine State native Danielle Baiunco (Melbourne, Fla.) both took at least 10 shots off their Monday scores as Hawkins dropped 12 shots and Baiunco reduced her score by 10.

Baiunco and freshman Elizabeth England (Oakland, Tenn.) both finished tied for 39th.  England shot a final round 77.

Individual competitor Rebekah Pruett (Niceville, Fla.) shot an second round 80 to finish tied for 56th. Hawkins's 77 propelled her up the scoreboard and a 63rd-place finish.
