ATLANTA, Ga.- Carson-Newman swim finished the first day of the Emory Fall Invitational with a pair of first-place finishes.
Carson-Newman swim grabbed gold in two events during the first day of the Emory Fall Invitational. Daniel Ribeiro finished first in the men's 100-yard freestyle with a finals time of 44.57. Teammate Arthur Gluzman came in second in 45.08. On the women's side of competition, Kennadi King made a mark with a third-place finish in 52.04. Martina Ivanova took home first in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:04.14.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, C-N women's swim finished second with a finals time of 1:35.56. King, Antonia Sanint, Chrisman Rand, and Lily Parr each swam a leg in the event. The men's team finished third in the event as Ribeiro, Gluzman, Daniel de Oliveira, and Benaiah McDowell swam the race in 1:24.26.
Breanna Belcher grabbed silver in the women's 100-yard breaststroke in 1:04.04, and Alonso Castro finished fifth in the men's 500-yard freestyle in 4:37.85.
The women placed fifth in the 400-yard medley relay with a finals time of 3:53.08, and the men finished fourth in 3:21.42.
