JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.- Carson-Newman swim is headed to compete against Mars Hill this Friday, Oct. 27 at 6:00 p.m.
The upcoming meet against Mars Hill will be the Eagles' third meet of the season. Carson-Newman swim is coming off two dominant victories. The Eagles bested Emory & Henry 387-134 before racing Lees-McRae at home to a final score of 320-85.
Mars Hill men's swimming is currently 2-1 in dual meet competition. The women are 0-3. Both C-N and Mars Hill have raced against Emory & Henry, making it the only comparable meet for the two teams up to this point in the season. Mars Hill faced off with the Emory & Henry Wasps this past Saturday, Oct. 21. The men's team came away with a 147-54 victory, similar to the Eagles' 189-72 win over the Wasps to open the regular season.
Historically, the Eagles have the upper hand between the two teams. C-N grabbed a Senior Night win last season against the Lions with a final score of 307-93. Antonia Sanint had a pair of standout performances. She grabbed gold in both the women's 50-yard freestyle in 24.37 and 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.34. On the men's side of competition, Will Humphreys found gold in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:41.03. Wander Sousa finished first in the 100-yard freestyle (46.31), and Arthur Gluzman made his mark in the 100-yard backstroke with a first-place finish in 50.89.
