GREENWOOD, Ind.- Four of Carson-Newman men's swimmers recieved CSC Academic All-District honors for their academic performance throughout the 2023-24 season, College Sports Communicators announced Tuesday, April 2.
Carson-Newman men's swimmers Asger Hartvig, Benaiah McDowell, Jed Little, and Jakov Igrec joined the CSC Acadmic All-District Team on Tuesday, April 2. The full list of honorees can be found HERE.
Hartvig is a junior swimmer from Hoersholm, Denmark. He is majoring in mathmatics and has a 4.0 GPA. Hartvig is in the running for the CSC Academic All-America Team that will be announced Wednesday, April 24. Aside from academic excellence, Hartvig became an Honorable Mention All-American in the men's 400-yard medley relay at the 2024 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving Championships in mid-March. The Eagles finished 11th in 3:11.18. He also competed in the men's 200 medley relay to earn Honorable Mention All-American status in 1:26.98, a new school record.
McDowell is a senior from Simpsonville, S.C. He has a current 3.91 GPA and is majoring in finance. McDowell was selected as a finalist for the CSC Academic All-America Team. At the 2024 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving Championships, McDowell contributed to a 12th-place finish in the men's 400-yard freestyle relay. The team completed the race in 2:56.58 to earn Honorable Mention All-American status.
Little is another senior for the Eagles. He is from Anderson, S.C. and is majoring in exercise science. Little has a 3.80 GPA. He swam 15 season-best performances during his senior season with C-N swim.
Igrec is from Tresnjevka, Croatia. The sophomore swimmer is majoring in exercise science and has a 3.82 GPA. Igrec swam 16 season-best times throughout the season, and he swam a personal best in the men's 1000-yard freestyle at the 2024 SAC Championships in 9:34.04.
