Eagles' 200 medley relay teams earn All-American honors

GENEVA, Ohio- Carson-Newman swim's women's and men's 200-yard medley relay teams earned Honorable Mention All-American honors during the first day of the 2024 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving Championships this evening, Mar. 13, finishing 10th and 11th respectively. 

The Eagles' 200 medley relay teams finished 10th and 11th in the event this evening to gain Honorable Mention All-American status. The women's team finished second in the consolation final with a new season-best time of 1:41.49. Chrisman Rand, Kyla Blakemore, Kennadi King, and Breanna Belcher each contributed to the finish. Gluzman, Daniel de Oliveira, Asger Hartvig, and Daniel Ribeiro set a new school record in the 200 medley relay in 1:26.98. The quartet finished third in the consolation final. 

Rand kicked off the Eagles' first outing at the 2024 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving Championships with a personal record in the women's 200-yard IM during the morning session. Rand finished 23rd in the preliminary event in 2:04.32. Rand's seed time for the event was 2:04.93. She acquired that time during the 2024 SAC Swimming Championships where she placed third in the event. 

Rand went on to finish 28th in the women's 50-yard freestyle prelims this morning, Mar. 13. She finished the event in 23.59 seconds. In the men's 50 free prelims, Arthur Gluzman finished 25th in 20.08 to grab a new personal best. Gluzman was invited to compete in the event for his 20.13-second 50 free prelims time at the 2024 SAC Swimming Championships. 

Tomorrow, Mar. 14, will be the second full day of competition for the Eagles. De Oliveira will swim in two preliminary events during the morning session tomorrow, Mar. 14, at 10:00 a.m. He will compete in the men's 200-yard freestyle prelims and 100-yard butterfly prelims. De Oliveira will be joined by teammate Gluzman in the men's 100 fly preliminary race. In the women's 100-yard butterfly prelims, Rand will compete. The finals for all events will take place during the evening session that begins at 5:30 p.m. The men's and women's 400-yard medley relay teams will compete during the evening session as well. 

The third day of the 2024 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving Championships are set to begin tomorrow, Mar. 14 at 10:00 a.m. Stay up to date on cneagles.com.
