KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Carson-Newman men's golf team will have some ground to make up heading into the last round of the Kiawah Island Invitational at the Kiawah Island Golf Club.
After 18 holes at the Kiawah Island Invitational, the Eagles are in 16th-place, 22 shots off the leader, Erskine College.
"We were disappointed in our play today," coach Randy Wylie said after the round. "I emphasis that double bogeys are not acceptable, but we continue to shoot them and I will continue to let them know that isn't ok.
Tomorrow, we need to up our game play and become more competitive."
Coming off an impressive performance at the Smokey Mountain Intercollegiate, sophomore Dalton Reese (Warrington, Ga.) leads the team shooting 73 (+1) placing tied for 23rd in the individual standings.
Junior Nickalus Kennedy (London, Ontario, Canada) shot a 75 (+3), placing him tied for 48th.
Freshman Ben Kennard (Knoxville, Tenn.) shot a six-over 78. Juniors Nathan Hodge (Jefferson City, Tenn.) shot a 79 and Andrew Hall (Knoxville, Tenn.) rounded out the squad with an 80.
The final round of the Kiawah Island Invitational will take place Tuesday morning.
