SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – Carson-Newman men's junior golfer Andrew Hall (Knoxville, Tenn.) shot two below-par rounds, including a career-low 66, and is tied for the top of the leaderboard after the first day of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate at Sevierville Golf Club's River Course in Sevierville.

Hall's second round 66 was the tournament's low score and it propelled him to a tie with Jacksonville State's Tomasz Anderson after the first two rounds. Hall shot a 70 in round one.

The Eagles are in 11th-place in the team competition on the team's home course.

"We played okay today as a team. We're getting our four and five scores down and Andrew Hall played terrific. He is leading the tournament in a 15-team field with almost all Division I teams. We are very proud of the way he's playing and cheering for him to win tomororw," coach Randy Wylie said.

Hall's previous low had been a 68 shot during the first round of the State Farm Intercollegiate in October. He shot below 70 for the fourth time this season.

Sophomore Dalton Reese (Warrenton, Ga.) shot a one-under 71 during the first round. He followed up that with a 75 for a two-round total of two-over 146. He is tied for 33rd on the leaderboard.

Junior Nathan Hodge (Jefferson City, Tenn) and freshman Ben Kennard (Corryton, Tenn.) are both at eight-over 152 and in a tie for 66th.  Hodge shot a 75 and 77 in the first two rounds. Kennard followed up his best tournament of his career last week in Jacksonville Beach, Fla. with two rounds of 76 for his eight-over score.

Junior Nicklaus Kennedy (London, Ontario) shot two rounds of 77 for a 10-over 154.

Southern Illinois leads the team competition by one stroke over Division II foe West Georgia.

The final 18 holes of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate will tee off at 10 a.m. at the River Course in Sevierville.
