Eagles prepped and ready for North Georgia Fall Invitational

Andrew Hall Interview

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – After two weeks off, the Carson-Newman men's golf team is rested and ready for the North Georgia Fall Invitational at Achesta Golf Club in Dahlonega, Ga.

Junior golfer Andrew Hall (Knoxville, Tenn.) and the Eagles used their two weeks off to improve aspects of their game that needed help.

"I think everyone has done what they feel like they needed to work on, so it's kind of different, it's kind of more individual for everybody," Hall said. "For me, for instance, I've worked on getting it off the tee a little bit better and some other guys have worked on short game, so it's just working on whatever you are weakest at right now and trying to improve that."

Hall's first season on Mossy Creek opened with a bang. The Walter State transfer's first tournament, the Smokey Mountain Intercollegiate, finished with him in second-place.

"That tournament I played pretty well," Hall said. "The last tournament, I didn't play so well the first day, but actually pretty good the second day and it ended up getting cancelled, which was unfortunate, but still nice to have that confidence of playing well that second day. I still know I played well so, looking to build on that."

The Eagles' squad features Hall along with sophomore Dalton Reese (Warrington, Ga.) and junior Nickalus Kennedy (London, Ontario, Canada). Freshman Ben Kennedy (Corryton, Tenn.) makes his second consecutive appearance with the Eagles and freshman Steven Hill (Knoxville, Tenn.) will be making his team debut.

The 54-hole North Georgia Fall Invitational will be played at Achesta Golf Club, a course designed by Jack Nickalus.  The 6,955-yard course opened in 2000 and crosses the Chestatee River.

The Invitational features 14 teams, but Carson-Newman will be the only South Atlantic team participating.

"The interesting about that is that we take five people every tournament and we count four scores, so with two freshmen, one of their scores will count every day so we need one of them to play well and I think they are ready to do that," Hall said.

The tournament kicks off Monday with 36 holes to be played and finishes Tuesday with another 18 holes.
