Eagles finish off Fall season tied for 14th at McDonough Cup

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Carson-Newman men's golf team finished up the fall portion of its schedule with a 14th-place finish at the McDonough Cup played at Rio Grande Country Club in Orlando, Fla.

The Eagles finished ahead of the 14th-ranked Armstrong Atlantic Pirates and they tied with Valdosta State who is receiving votes.
"Dalton Reese played solid today, the rest of the team struggled unfortunately," coach Randy Wylie said. "The guys need to work on their games over the winter, on their own, then come back ready to play in the spring."

Sophomore Dalton Reese (Warrenton, Ga.) shot a final-round 73 to lead Carson-Newman on the final day. Reese finished the tournament six-over and tied for 31st.

Junior Nicklaus Kennedy (London, Ontario, Canada) finished the tournament with a 76 putting him in a tie for 45th at eight-over.

Junior Andrew Hall (Knoxville, Tenn.) shot his second 77 of the tournament to finish at 14-over and tied for 60th.

Freshman Steven Hill combined his second-round 73 with a final-round 77 to finished tied for 63rd. Junior Nathan Hodge (Jefferson City, Tenn.) finished the tournament with a final-round 80.

Lynn won the tournament with a score of 11-under and Florida Southern's John Van Der Laan won the medalist honors on the first playoff hole over Lynn's Elliot Whitley.
