Two Eagles pick up All-Tournament honors at Tennessee River Ramble

LOUDON, Tenn. – Two Carson-Newman golfers garnered Tennessee River Ramble All-Tournament team honors after the final round of the tournament played at Tennessee National Golf Club in Loudon, Tenn.

Junior Andrew Hall (Knoxville, Tenn.) shot a final round 70 to finish tied for second and freshman Ben Kennard (Corryton, Tenn.) finished at five-over following a final round 76 for a tie for fifth.

The Carson-Newman team finished in fifth-place in the field comprised of 14 teams.

"Very pleased with Andrew today and Ben also had a solid tournament; tied for second and tied for fifth. We continue to struggle as a whole team. We have three weeks before conference championships and will continue to strive to get better," coach Randy Wylie said.

Hall finished in second for the second time this season after matching his career best finish he recorded at the Smokey Mountain Intercollegiate. Hall has two consecutive top-three finishes and now has four top-five finishes during his junior campaign. During the Tennessee River Ramble, he finished in the top-12 in average scoring on every hole. He finished one-under on Par-3s and two-under on Par-5s. The Knoxville native also had the five most pars during the duration of the Ramble.

Kennard recorded his second-best finish of his career with the tie for fifth; he previously had tied for fourth at the Benbow Intercollegiate in Florida. His score of six-over was the best finish of his young career. The freshman led the entire field in par-5 scoring after shooting an average score of 4.25 and he finished tied for the fifth most birdies with six.

Sophomore Dalton Reese (Warrenton, Ga.) and junior Nathan Hodge (Jefferson City, Tenn.) finished tied for 31st after recording identical rounds of 77 and 81 over the course of the two rounds; the duo shot a 158 during the tournament. Reese recorded 21 pars during the tournament and shot an average score of 4.75 on par-5s. Hodge's final score of 14-over was his fourth-best finish of the year and his best finish of the spring.

Juniors Cory Bray (Caryville, Tenn.) and Nicklaus Kennedy (London, Ontario) finished tied for 56th with a score of 21-over 165. Bray's score of 21-over is his third best finish of the season.

Junior Rafael Carrillo (Guadalajara, Mexico) shot his second consecutive 89 of the tournament. He finished tied for 79th.

Lincoln Memorial won the team competition by nine strokes over Dalton State. LMU's Braden Galyon won the individual competition by four strokes over Dalton State's Sean Elliott and Hall.

The Eagles will now have three weeks off before heading to Charlotte, N.C. for the South Atlantic Conference Championships on April 19th-21st.
