Love continues Georgia pipeline, adds Ayers to tennis team

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman tennis coach Jean Love added a new member to her squad during the Fall signing period as Woodstock, Ga.-native Hannah Ayers for the Class of 2015.

Ayers, the daughter of Darin and Kim Ayers, will join Carson-Newman after finishing her senior season at Etowah High School and playing under coach Billie Morgan.

Heading into her senior campaign, Ayers has been named to both All-County singles and doubles team and picked up the Etowah Coach's Award. She has led her team to four state playoff appearances and has won the Girls' 18U Tennis Recruiting Showcase Series Tournament.

Academically, she's been named a scholar-athlete, a two-year Academic Letter winner and has received the Lamp of Knowledge Award for getting a 90 or about through the three years she has completed. At Carson-Newman, she intends on studying Nursing.

"I am pleased to announce the signing of Hannah Ayers. She is another in a long line of talented tennis players from Georgia that have chosen Carson-Newman," Love said of her newest Eagle. "Hannah is a solid player, fundamentally sound, and will make an immediate impact in the lineup."

Ayers will become the fourth Woodstock-native on the combined men's and women's roster and the fifth Georgian. Since 2010, six Carson-Newman players have hailed from Woodstock, Ga. and 12 Eagles call the Peach State home.

The Carson-Newman tennis team opens the 2015 slate with a home match against Young Harris on February 7th. For the latest information on the Eagles' tennis team, follow @cnathletics on Twitter and at cneagles.com.
