Eagles fall to Tusculum

GREENVILLE, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (5-10, 1-5 SAC) dropped match to Tusculum (11-4, 5-1 SAC) 8-1 on the road on Saturday afternoon.

In singles play, Jonathan Allen (Lenoir City, Tenn.) brought home the solitary point for the Eagles in the no. 5 spot against John Taylor after Taylor retired following a first set tiebreaker of 7-6 (10-2).

Paul Birdsong (Woodstock, Ga.) retired the match at no. 2 singles to Nic Planchard.

At no. 2 doubles, Birdsong and Derek Holdway (Woodstock, Ga.) came close to triumph over Jonas Winkelmann and Paul Wiederspahn but lost in the end 8-6.

The Eagles continue conference play against Lincoln Memorial at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
