Men’s tennis drops conference match to LMU

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (4-10, 1-6 SAC) dropped a conference match to Lincoln Memorial University (9-4, 6-1 SAC) 8-1 Sunday afternoon.

Freshman Juan Perez (Ecuador) came close to a victory at no. 1 singles but the match resulted in a loss to Philipp Hoffmann 7-5, 6-3.

In doubles play, the team of Dalton Moore (Gate City, Va.) and Curt Duncan (Morristown, Tenn.) brought in the lone point for the Eagles defeating Michael Koenen and Gabriel Martins 8-5 in the no. 3 spot.

Derek Holdway (Woodstock, Ga.) and Jonathan Allen (Lenoir City, Tenn.) neared success at no. 2 doubles before falling to Will Sparks and Marcelo Alvim 8-4.

The Eagles head next to the University of the Cumberlands at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
