Eagles find victory against the Patriots

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Carson-Newman (6-11) came home with a 7-2 win against the University of the Cumberlands (3-10) Tuesday afternoon.

In singles play, Curt Duncan (Morristown, Tenn.) defeated Daryl Macleish in a close match 7-6, 10-6 in the no. 5 spot. At no. 6, Daniel Douglas (Knoxville, Tenn.) beat Cody King 6-2, 6-4. Jonathan Allen (Lenoir City, Tenn.) was also victorious at no. 3 singles winning 6-3, 6-4 versus Juan Villamizar. In the no. 2 position, Derek Holdway (Woodstock, Ga.) came out with the win 6-2, 6-2 against Tyler Smith.

At no. 4 singles, Austin Mackay (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) won 7-6, 7-5 after Eric Mikhlin retired the match.

In the no. 1 singles position, Juan Perez retired after going down 6-2, 4-0 to Ariez Heshaam.

In doubles play, Mackay and Perez triumphed over Heshaam and Franco Holguin 8-0 at no. 1. Allen and Holdway won 8-4 in the no. 2 position against Mikhlin and Villamizar.

The Eagles jump back into conference play versus Brevard on Friday at 1:00 p.m.
