JEFFERSON CITY, TENN. – The 9th ranked Carson-Newman women's soccer team looks to get back in the win column when the Royals of Queens visit Mossy Creek on Saturday, Sept. 23.
The Eagles (5-0-1, 2-0-1 SAC) come off a 110-minute bout with Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday, which ended in a 2-2 tie.
"We talked with the team about good characteristics of winning programs and successful teams, and one of those is still getting a result despite playing poorly," said Coach Simon Duffy. "I'll really be able to judge us by the time tomorrow is all said and done, we
Queens (4-1-1, 2-1 SAC) is led by three first-team all-SAC members in Charlotte Ring, Thea Mallet, and Mariah Lewis. The Royals were voted to finish fourth in the preseason poll receiving 70 points and one first-place vote.
"Queens will be very physical, they are well coach and organized," added Duffy. "We just got to make sure we take care of ourselves and the intensity and mindset is there."
Despite the tie to the Bears on Wednesday, the Eagles have not lost a game at home since the 2015 season. During that time, they have only trailed once.
C-N leads the South Atlantic Conference in goals, assists, shots and shots on goal in the 2017 campaign. The Royals are tied with the Eagles for shutouts on the season with three.
"We were disappointed that we drew the game the other night, but that shows the expectations we have as a team," mentioned senior forward Lauren Wade. "We know how good we can be, and there's nothing more important than a win this weekend."
Game time for Saturday at McCown Field is set for 6:30 p.m.
