JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The 9th ranked Carson-Newman women's soccer team remains unbeaten at McCown Field since 2015 after defeating the Queens Royals 4-2 on Saturday evening.

"Some great movement and patterns tonight, and we went into the bench quite deep tonight," said Coach Duffy. "The girls were immense today, I challenged them after the L-R game and they were excellent."

The Eagles (6-0-1, 3-0-1 SAC) got the ball rolling in the 22 minute after a Lara Hallgrimsdottir corner found the body of Helen Seed at the far post who deflected the ball into the net. It was the senior defender's first goal of 2017.

"I'm not really sure what happened," explained Seed. "It was a great delivery by Lara but I think it hit me on the bum, honestly."

It took all of the next 32 seconds for the Eagles strike again after Catarina Realista took a feed from junior defender Alex Brandan, registering her second tally of the season on a strike from the right side of the 18-yard box.

Magda Mosengo added her fifth goal of the season after dribbling the ball passed multiple Royals' defenders and delivering on a shot from the top of the box in the 36th minute. It would eventually prove to be the game winner.

"The great thing about having someone like Wade and Seed here, plus Jules Herrity on the staff is they know how important it is to win here," added Duffy. "It's one of our goals for the season to make sure we dominate here at home and we did."

Senior Lauren Wade capitalized in the 68th minute off a cross from fellow forward Holly Talbut-Smith marking her fifth goal of the season to join Mosengo and Queens Alana Jefferson atop the South Atlantic Conference.  Wade leads the league with 13 points so far this season runner-up to Mosengo's dozen.

Jefferson connected on a goal for Queens (4-2-1, 2-2 SAC) in the 79th minute after beating a charging Jazmine Rizk following a C-N turnover. The Royals inched closer in the 84th minute when an Emma Rose Stockton cross found the head of Elizabeth Phan. Saturday night marked just the second time the Eagles have allowed two goals in a game this season.

Jackie Burns recorded four saves in 76 minutes of action on the pitch en route to her sixth victory of the season.

The Eagles will hit the road for the first time in two weeks when they head to Chattanooga, Tenn. for a neutral site match with Clayton State. Kick off is slated for 5:00 p.m.

"It seems like we haven't played on the road in forever," explained Duffy. "Important to get into that routine and treat it like a home game. Hope we can come out guns blazing."
