Eagles on two-match win streak going into the weekend against Catawba

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- After taking down Coker and Mars Hill in the past week, Carson-Newman (6-6, 4-2 SAC) women's tennis has found themselves on a two-match win streak heading into their next road trip to take on the Catawba Indians in Salisbury, N.C. on Saturday.

"We're just gonna roll with the momentum we have," Coach Jim Frederick said. "We're doing the right things and playing well and we want to continue that trend and keep improving."

The Eagles have won the past three meetings against the Indians and are looking to extend that streak heading into the weekend. Freshman Ana Carla Resende (Minas Gerais, Brazil) is the leading lady for the Eagles right now as she has an 8-3 record in singles play. On top of that, the Eagles have a ranked doubles team in Hannah Price (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Abby Reis (Des Moines, IA), who are 5-7, at No. 46 according to the Intercollegate Tennis Association rankings. After C-N's win against Mars Hill they are sitting at No. 5 in league standings and with another win could improve even more.

As for the Indians, they are behind the Eagles in the league at No. 7 as of now. They are 11-5 on the season and 2-3 in conference play. The Indians are returning five players on their roster and have added three newcomers to the mix.

The Eagles will leave bright and early Saturday morning and begin play at 1:00 p.m. at Johnson Tennis Center in North Carolina. For ore information, results and updates check back on cneagles.com.
